For
C3 flautist Julián
Elvira
will challenge the listener's expectations, performing a set
combined with electronic effects and colours created by Jesus
Navarro.
Elvira and Navarro, through their project, PANGWE LINGUA, have developed
a hybrid approach to musical creation utilizing the aesthetics and
techniques of Eastern cultures in contrast to the Western classical
tradition and urban electronic sounds. Elvira plays a Pronomos flute, a
self-developed microtonal flute based on the Complex System
of Istvan Matuz. This
instrument allows full independence of all flute holes creating
millions of sonic possibilities, multiphonic chords and unusual
sounds. Other works use a subcontrabass flute which provides an unique
sound quality and dark tone.

Julián
Elvira,
one of the most versatile flautists of the Spanish and European music
scene, lives and works in Madrid. A graduate of the Real
Conservatorio Superior de Música
de Madrid, Elvira decided to dedicate himself to the aim of building
a flute with a maximum of acoustic possibilities. He spent more than
ten years developing an optimal flute: the microtonal Pronomos
flute. From 1994 to
2006, he was a soloist for contemporary
music ensemble Proyecto
Guerrero.
As a composer and performer he has produced Expiral
(1998), Ira
(2002) and 2018. All
of these works are multi-disciplinary and arise from his research and
the development of new technologies and structures.
